The collaboration with Ogyre
At every stage of our production process, we strive to minimize the use of plastic and potentially polluting materials, favoring more sustainable, durable, and responsible solutions. However, in some cases, the use of plastic is still necessary not only for functional or technical reasons, but also out of respect for the original design of some of our iconic products, such as the radiocubo, where form and materials are integral to the design identity established in the 1960s.
It is precisely in these cases that we have chosen to go beyond simple offsetting, embarking on a virtuous path together with Ogyre, an Italian startup committed to ocean conservation. Thanks to this collaboration, Brionvega is now plastic neutral: for every gram of plastic used in our products and packaging, we fund the removal of an equivalent amount of plastic waste from the sea.
Ogyre operates through a network of local fishers in Italy, Brazil, and Indonesia, transforming their daily work into a tangible act of environmental protection. It’s a quiet but essential effort that contributes to the health of marine ecosystems and coastal communities.
Being plastic neutral is, for us, a real, measurable commitment deeply aligned with our way of understanding design: not only as form and function, but as a cultural and responsible gesture.
